Population genetics and genome‐wide association studies provide insights into the influence of selective breeding on genetic variation in lettuce

چکیده

Genetic diversity is an important resource in crop breeding to improve cultivars with desirable traits. Selective can lead a reduction of genetic diversity. However, our understanding on this subject remains limited lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). Genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) provide reduced version the genome as cost-effective method identify variants across genome. We genotyped diverse set 441 accessions using GBS method. Phylogenetic and population analyses indicated substantial divergence among four horticultural types lettuce: butterhead, crisphead, leaf, romaine. Genetic-diversity estimates between within that crisphead type was most differentiated from other types, whereas its homogenous slowest linkage disequilibrium (LD) decay types. These results suggested lettuces had relatively less variation well low gene flow identified putative selective sweep regions showed type. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) quantitative trait loci (QTL) provided evidence these genomic were, part, associated delayed bolting, implicating positive selection bolting reducing variation. Our findings enhance current impacts patterning lettuce.

Six decades of vitiligo genetics: Genomewide studies provide insights into autoimmune pathogenesis

Generalized vitiligo (GV) is a complex disease in which patchy depigmentation results from autoimmune loss of melanocytes from affected regions. Genetic analyses of GV span six decades, with the goal of understanding biological mechanisms and elucidating pathways that underlie the disease. The earliest studies attempted to describe the mode of inheritance and genetic epidemiology. Early genetic...

Insights into recombination from population genetic variation.

Patterns of genetic variation in natural populations are shaped by, and hence carry valuable information about, the underlying recombination process. In the past five years, the increasing availability of large-scale population genetic data on dense sets of markers, coupled with advances in statistical methods for extracting information from these data, have led to several important advances in...

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

phylogeography and genetic diversity of the lesser mouse- eared bat (myotis blythii) in iran

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...
